It’s awesome to be able to create from raw castings/metal some beautiful looking fixtures like this. The bring the code compliant elevator requirements with the importance of preserving the history of the building together.

1919 Controller Data Tag Project Found SN#7008

This is cool, after being sent a link to a elevator enthusiast in Australia who below, unboxed some cool elevator plates he had bought on ebay, one of which was a C.J. Anderson Controller Tag. I posted a comment asking what the Serial number was so I could find out where it came from. Ten minutes later I found it as well as the wiring diagram for the original job, which dated back to 1919.

How many companies do you know of that can pull this kind of information out from their archives, almost 100 years later?

Milwaukee Art Museum – Round Elevator

I love the power YouTube is awesome. A recent video of the round elevator at the Milwaukee Art Museum was forwarded to me. The original plans called for the inside panel to be rounded which caused a bit of an issue with the button mounting. Take a look. They still look great after over ten years of public use. A great push button for transit or any public building.

Tough Elevator Pushbuttons – San Antonio River Walk

Thanks to Andrew for all the cool elevator filming he does. In this latest video Andrew takes us on a tour of the Elevator in San Antonio Riverwalk. The fixtures installed here were put in back in around 1994 and are still going strong. As you can see in the video, vandalism has occurred but for the most part are in pretty good shape.

Door Restrictor Installation Video

Back in 1998 Jim Bjorkquist, headed out into the field to see how our SAFE-X-IT Door Restrictors were being installed. Special thanks to Reliance Elevator and the two mechanics who shared their installation techniques with him.

After a full day of video tapping, and yes it was recorded to tape, we spent another four months piecing it all together. The end result is the installation video which is still being viewed today.

What’s nice about the video is that it shows a few different mounting applications despite it’s low resolution. Nice job Jim!
