NEMA 7 Elevator Controller From 1989

We’ve got hundreds if not thousands of controllers, fixtures, switches, interlocks and selector systems installed across the world and it’s always great to see photos of them still going strong. This project, located in Texas is a single speed rack and pinion elevator which utilizes a Power Electronics soft start motor control. Running strong since 1989, prints and components are still available through local electrical supply houses. Even back in 1989 we were building controllers utilizing non proprietary equipment so that you could purchase replacement items from local electrical distributors.

This is a relay logic NEMA 7 elevator control system with a soft start motor control. It’s been running since 1989 like a champ and will continue for another 20-30 years because of its design and the components that were used to build the system. The great news is that we can still build an identical controller like this. Perfect for like for like repair replacement.
